THE RACE STARTS AFTER THE FINISH LINE

Iron Icons Kathleen McCartney and Julie Moss, share one of the most dramatic finishes in endurance sports. With no competitive athletic experience, Kathleen and Julie entered the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, and went on to make history. The Ironman triathlon is considered the most grueling one-day sporting event in the world. It begins with a 2.4-mile ocean swim, followed by 112 miles of cycling, and ends with a marathon, a 26.2-mile run.

Captured by ABC’s Wide World of Sports, their efforts epitomize “the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.” Their race inspired millions to challenge their own preconceived limitations, brought a little-known sport worldwide attention, and put the Ironman triathlon on the map. The legendary sportscaster Jim McKay called their Ironman finish one of the most inspiring moments in sports that he had ever witnessed.

The Iron Icon’s presentation, “Transform Your Dreams into Victories: A Game Plan for Success” will take you on a remarkable Ironman triathlon journey that began with a dream and developed into a framework for a 30- year Ironman success story. Kathleen and Julie share the details of their iconic race and the principles that made them unforgettable Ironman Champions. Their message conveys how impossible dreams will transform your life when you execute the game plan to commit, to believe, to collaborate, and never give up in order to cross your personal finish line and successfully achieve your Ironman-sized dreams.

Kathleen McCartney and Julie Moss have captivated audiences including Intel Security McAfee, Bachrach & Associates, Inc. and UCSD Women’s Conference. They are the recipients of Competitor Magazine’s “Triathlon Legend Award” and Triathlon Business International’s “Female Triathlete of the Year Award.” McCartney is the 1982 Ironman World Champion.
